Did you know that there is a Secret Society of Happy People? Yes, the Secret Society of Happy People was founded by Pamela Gail Johnson. In 2000, the Society expanded Happiness Happens Day (August 8th) into Happiness Happens Month.
The purpose of the month is to encourage “people to take stock of their lives, to do and think about things that make them happy, and to share that happiness with others”.
So, today in honor of Happiness Happens Month, I want to share with you 5 things that I have been doing more of to ensure my daily happiness.
1) Morning Gratitude
Each morning, I have been waking up in gratitude. I verbally say how thankful I am for a new day and all the blessings and opportunities that are on their way. Being grateful for what you already have lets the Universe know that you are open to being grateful for more of what you want.

2) My Positive Book of Aspects
I am back to scripting daily in my Positive Book of Aspects. My book is a simple notebook that I use to journal my ideal days, mate, adventures, or whatever else I would like to manifest in my life.

Did you know? The Secret by Rhonda Byrnes can teach you a lot of this.
3) Changing My Immediate Circle
This by far has been the hardest lately. Unfortunately, quite a few of the people closest to me are mostly “Happy Challenged”. Sadly, this is the case where everything is a problem and that’s all they want to talk about. This causes a decrease in my vibration, so I’ve had to begin distancing myself simply to protect my energy and to take care of my emotional well-being.
4) Self Investment
Recently, more than ever, I am have been investing more in myself – such as drinking more water, putting more effort into my daily routine of getting dressed, applying my makeup, reading, meditating, etc.
It all matters and makes me feel so much better about myself and life in general – which of course, makes me happy.
5) Quality Time with My Boys
Lastly, I have been spending more quality time with my boys. I mean, yes, we spend time together but sometimes things are rushed.
So, lately after reading the 5 Love Languages, I have slowed down and taken time to acknowledge their love language and how to better communicate with them.
What I have learned is that they both value focused-quality time.
My youngest prefers me to do activities with him, while my pre-teen values me simply listening to all that he has to say without interruption. It sounds like an easy thing to do, but when you are constantly on a rush from one task to the next, these simple things get tossed aside.
So, now that I am making these changes, I am not only making myself happy but adding to their happiness, as well.
Final Thoughts on Happiness Happens
Happiness shouldn’t be designated to just one day or one month. We should encounter some happiness each and every day. But, in order to do so, we must remember that happiness is a choice. We can all choose to wake up and be happy or choose to let the day control us.
It’s our choice.
What will YOU choose?
