It has literally been a month since my last update on What I’m Doing Now 09.28.20) . So, in today’s post I’m definitely letting you in on what’s been going on in my little corner of the world. From the painful hangnails, prosperity books, homeschooling, new blog partnerships, latest jewelry, and my Halloween kitchen basket, I’ve got stuff to share!
So grab your favorite latte and let’s dive right in!
Let’s begin with…
Halloween
Halloween is just a few days away and I cannot believe that this year, I’ve hardly done a thing. In prior years, I’ve made it my business to decorate all areas of the house – and, well this year, it just hasn’t been it.
View past Halloween on the blog.
My Halloween totes and boxes are lining our front hallway, but nothing has been emptied from the boxes and placed anywhere. It’s been quite hard to get in the mood when everything is about the pandemic, the election, and the wildfires. But, we won’t touch that because this blog is supposed to be fun and uplifting.
So, what I will say is that, given the circumstances, I did find enough passion and energy to put together a Halloween Occasion Kitchen Basket.
After learning about occasion baskets, I have decided to adopt the idea for all holidays and/or seasons because it still makes me feel like I accomplished something festive.
Read all about what went in the Halloween Kitchen Basket.
Oh, almost forgot to mention. Another reason why it’s been hard to go wild decorating is because our living situation has changed since the pandemic. Who else can relate?
Our living room is now the classroom and office and there are already school posters and everything else all over the place. Adding more things would just be overwhelming.
With that in mind, let’s talk about homeschool for a bit.
Homeschool has been a great fit for our family. The boys enjoy the more relaxed environment and the flexibility of getting things done. I enjoy it as well because I know exactly what they are learning. In addition to this, I get to supplement the curriculum with resources that I believe would be beneficial for them, as well as with things that they enjoy.
For example, my youngest son loves science. Therefore, I try to focus any extra time on fun science experiments that he enjoys. Doing this allows him to foster a love of learning around topics he enjoys.
My oldest son, on the other hand, enjoys art and engineering projects. He’s very hands on and prefers this style of learning. Keeping this in mind, I choose projects and activities that he enjoys, so that it doesn’t seem like work to him.
Dollar Tree and Five Below for the win!
You would be surprised at how many activity kits that I have picked up from Dollar Tree and Five Below that are definitely worth it! For example, the SpiderBot that he put together came from FiveBelow for just $5. And, the Bolts Biplane came from Dollar Tree for just $1.
Dollar Tree and FiveBelow have definitely been winning in my eyes for homeschool. In a later post, I’ll be sharing the reality of homeschooling my 9th grader. He’s also using the Time4Learning curriculum.
I tell you, that curriculum is a game changer! Everything is preloaded with all the materials including assignments, quizzes, and exams.
New Partnerships! New Partnerships! Read all about it!
Next, I am so excited for new partnerships on the blog! Yaayyyyy! Lining up content for November and December has been really fun this year. It’s also brought me so much joy and excitement because it gives me something to look forward to creating.
I don’t want to spoil any new content, but I will tell you that you can expect to see some new clothing brands, as well as the return of some others like Femme Luxe! Oh how I love their clothing!
Don’t leave the blog without checking out 4 Holiday Dresses from Femme Luxe!
In addition, there’s a lot of fun, family holiday goodness coming your way. My goal is to help inspire you to create an amazing holiday time (affordably) as we end this crazy year of 2020.
Don’t forget to download your FREE Secret Santa Questionnaire. I added a new one for 2020! It’s called a Cup of Pink Hot Chocolate.
Jewelry and Hangnails
And, oh my goodness… I’ve been suffering from hangnails. They hurt, but I have found relief in using 43CBD salve and A+D ointment. Just a few tips in case you run into the same thing.
In the meantime, I can’t share the adorable pearl jewelry that I’ve been digging because my nails and hands look so bad right now. I mean…really bad. Sigh.
But, if you are curious about the pearl jewelry, check out the site at Pearly Lustre and leave me a comment on the piece that you love the most.

Final Thoughts
Lastly, I’ve been reading some books on success. I just finished The Power of Your Subconscious Mind. Loved it! This is definitely a book I would recommend to everyone wanting to improve their life. You can find it on my IG feed and in my “Books” Story Highlights.
It took me 4 strong days of reading to complete the book and I’m glad I did. It provided me with some tips that I haven’t been using. Hello, new tips!
Well, I think this about sums it up. Over the coming weekend, I’ll be bringing you a few new product reviews that would make great gift ideas!
