This year has been an interesting year in travel for me. Unlike last year, I wasn’t trying to add on any new states. Instead, the goal was to backtrack through various states and actually do some adult things and/or visit some places that we were unable to visit in the past due to time constraints.
So, below I’ve listed travel adventures by month as a way to inspire you to add something a little different to your travel bucket list.
Do note that this post is a long one. 🙂
January 2018
Riggs Beer Tour, Urbana, IL
Doing this brewery tour was on my Birthday Bucket List. I learned so much about the brewing process.
Elegant Bridal Expo, Champaign, IL
My future sister-in-law invited me to attend the Elegant Bridal Expo at the I-Hotel with her in Champaign. I am not sure if it was her first time at a bridal expo, but it was mine. So, I wrote a post (Bridal Expo Etiquette and How to Create a Memorable Experience) giving up some things I learned, as well as the mini album I made for her.
Harlem Globetrotters Game, Champaign, IL
The boys and I attended our first Harlem Globetrotters game together. After we returned, I wrote a post, How to Create a Memorable Experience at the Harlem Globetrotters Game. For example, I made them mini autograph albums and we wore red, white, and blue to match with the theme which made for awesome themed photos.
February 2018
Walt Disney World, Orlando, FL
Don’t judge me, but I went to Disney solo! That’s right! I left the kids behind and checked it all out for myself first. I wrote so many posts on my time there. While there, I also attended a Media Event at Animal Kingdom Lodge hosted by EZ Dis by Instant Impressions.

Homer Interpretive Center, Homer, IL
This year, we decided upon a special Smithsonian traveling exhibit for Black History Month called A Place for All People from the National Museum of African American History and Culture located in Washington, D.C.
March 2018
NCAA Museum, Indianapolis, IN
Visiting the NCAA Hall of Champions made for a great and inexpensive day trip that was only an hour and a half away from home. Not only that, but I grabbed my tickets from Groupon for only $1. Yes! I only paid $1 for (4) tickets.
April 2018
Seven Magic Mountains, Las Vegas, NV
Seven Magic Mountains had been on my Travel Bucket List, as soon as the exhibit was installed. I was so pleased to finally make it there. You can read all about it here.
I visited many other places while there. Check out the category Nevada for the other places. But more importantly, I made a surprise visit to see my great aunt who is well into her 90’s.
May 2018
Spring Soccer Season
Spring soccer season is six weeks which means no travel for six weeks. In addition to the normal soccer season, the boys also attended the British Soccer Camp.
Mother’s Day Brunch
Mother’s Day Brunch was such a standout occasion that I need to list it here. I don’t think I posted about it on the blog, but I posted a few photos on Facebook at the time. It was a beautiful occasion with the women in my life that are friends and family.
June 2018
CYS Boudoir Photo Shoot, Indianapolis, IN
I kicked down the doors of my own insecurities and had a boudoir fashion shoot done. I ended up with one, very lovely photo. Check it out at Today I Will Give Myself Some Credit.
Central Illinois Wine Trail, Central, IL
A co-worker and I spent two days on the Central Illinois Wine Trail. It was definitely a fun, summer thing to do!
July 2018
Chicago, IL
The boys and I spent a day in Chicago. We attempted a downtown Urban Adventure Quest and also spent some time on the lake. But, damn that sand was hard! Instead of writing about our time there, it inspired me to write a post about beaches I loved with nice sand.
August 2018
Urbana Corn Festival, Urbana, IL
September 2018
Cornucopia Farms, Scottsburg, IN
October 2018
October was our fall vacation, so we spent a week taking a journey down south which included the stops below. But, I was also able to check out the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, IL.
- The House of Boom, Louisville, KY
- Mammoth Cave National Park, Cave City, KY
- Cherokee Landing Cabin Camping, Saulsbury, TN
- America’s Incredible Pizza, Memphis, TN
November 2018
Milwaukee, WI
I spent four days in Milwaukee for a personal and professional development conference where I spent hours learning more on happiness, gratitude, and coaching. The days were long, so I wasn’t able to get out much outside of the conference. But, I’ll talk more about that in a future posts. In the meantime, you can read about me Packing for Milwaukee with A. Lynn Designs.
December 2018
December isn’t here yet, but really, I just want to relax with my handsome man and young men.
Final Thoughts
Each month was definitely busy this year, but I learned so much and am so grateful for the many opportunities presented in 2018.
What are your thoughts on travel for 2019?
