Lilac & $5 Milkshakes at Merry Ann’s Diner

With today being National Chocolate Milkshake Day, you should definitely grab a chocolate milkshake and have some laughs to the 1994 movie, Pulp Fiction. In the famous $5 milkshake scene with Uma Thurman and John Travolta, Travolta expresses how he feels about trying a $5 milkshake.

View the clip here on YouTube and then keep reading to check out where you can get the best $5 milkshakes at in Champaign; Merry Ann’s Diner.

As an added fun bonus, you can also take some fun Instagram-worthy photos for your Instagram feed at the toy crane machine. Each play is only .50 cents and worth the fun.

If social media isn’t your thing. Skip the photos and just have fun trying to win something, at least that’s what my son did. He said, “Mom, I’m going to try and win you something.” He tried twice, but we didn’t leave the diner with any stuffed animal prize. But, that’s okay. He has fun trying and his heart was in a great place.

Speaking of crane machines, I did a little research and found out a pretty cool fact. Arcade-style crane machines emerged in the United States in the 1920s according to Quartz Weekly, right as milkshakes were becoming popular across the US.

But, enough about all of that. Let’s get into what is National Chocolate Milkshake Day and what is the significance?

National Chocolate Milkshake Day, like other national days, is celebrated to bring awareness to the day and have a little fun celebrating and brightening your day solo or with friends and family.

According to the National Day Calendar, in 1885 milkshakes were an alcoholic beverage described as a “sturdy, healthful eggnog type of drink” blended with eggs, whiskey, and other ingredients served by pharmacies.

However, by the 1920s and 1930s, milkshakes became a popular drink at malt shops and diners across the United States.

It is an old-school American diner that stays open 24/7 for breakfast classics, sandwiches, milkshakes, and chicken fried steak, just to name a few. The Original Merry Ann’s diner has been serving up classic American diner fare for over 30 years according to its Facebook page.

There’s even a limited edition milkshake for the fall, a chai tea latte milkshake! How delicious!

Milkshakes come one size and is $4.99, so let’s just say $5,  just like in the milkshake scene from Pulp Fiction! Not only this, but they are delicious!

A Little Bit of Lilac from Shein & DSW

I knew that I was going to take a photo for this post and a similar post over on NewsBreak, so I wanted to wear something that I haven’t worn out before that I’ve been wanting to wear. And, that’s this lilac jumper from Shein with these lilac sandals from DSW.

The plan was to wear this early in the summer, only my weight was still rather heavy and the jumpsuit didn’t fit the best. Today, I tried it on and was so happy that I could fit into it with no problems.

A Little Bit Of Help…

I know a big help has been using the Reshape Me app and the Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies. They are both from the same company and both have been working for me.  The app allows me to keep track of my steps, enter in my meals, and gives me notifications throughout the day, all while the Apple Cider  Vinegar Gummies help control my appetite.

Yesterday, was monumental because although I have been using the app to track my steps, I have not once met my goal of 12,000 steps in a day until yesterday when we walked to the Farmer’s Market and back. We ended up buying sunflowers and corn. But, I’ll save that adventure for another post, hopefully, later in the week.

Final Thoughts

Anywho, aside from the lilac and recent weight loss, with just this one national day there are so many ways to enjoy the day with friends and family and create some intentional memories.

Whether it’s just simply watching Pulp Fiction around the television together, or going to grab a $5 milkshake and photo opp, you’re sure to find some happiness and fun for National Chocolate MIlkshake Day!
