The Stay Home Girls on Instagram

A few days ago, I went to my bookshelf to find something “light” to read. I didn’t feel like any self-help, learn a new skill, or “be the best you can be” –  type of books. I wanted something fun, inspirational, and enjoyable. So, after browsing through over 100 books, I settled on a big yellow, coffee table style book called, A Life of Style by Rebecca Moses

A Life of Style

Star fashion designer Rebecca Moses has devoted herself to crafting chic garments for stylish women world-wide, as well as illustrations.

According to Vera Wang, “Rebecca Moses’s A Life of Style is a charming personal analysis of that most elusive of gifts…style… and of how mysterious and captivating true style really is. Rebecca’s passion for all things design and her talent for illustration make this book a unique voyage into the life of a passionate devotee of the art of living!”

And, right now with times as uncertain as they are and a bit challenging mentally for many, this was the perfect book to curl up and relax to.

As I curled up in the bed, I picked up my phone to do a quick Instagram search to see if she was on Instagram so that I could tag her in a photo of the book.

And, what do you know? I found her and tagged her.

A little while later, I was pleasantly surprised that she not only followed back, but invited me to share my Stay Home story and be a part of The Stay Home Girls.

The Stay Home Girls

During this time of social distancing, Rebecca has created a series of illustrations on Instagram that she has painted herself. Many nights staying up all night painting beautiful illustrations that capture the personalities and stories of these women who are sharing their story of staying home during this pandemic.

There have been about 18 women including myself who have shared their story and whom she has painted.

I am forever grateful to have been able to connect with her.

Illustration and Personality

Her illustration of me is so fitting and captured the pure essence of my personality. She captured my love of drinking green tea which appears as an earring in the illustration. She captured my love of makeup with the bold eye shadow and lipstick and my daily bun as the Ying and Yang, as well as my love of reading with my recent focus being on the Motivation Manifesto. Good energy. Good vibes. I love it all!

My Excitement

ASide from the opportunity to connect and the inspiring illustration, what also excites me is that, about a week ago, I had been looking through Instagram pages and took note of multiple people who had illustrations in their feed that various artists had completed. After scrolling through a little while, I said, “I’d like to have an illustration done of me”.

And what do you know? It happened this week by Rebecca Moses. It doesn’t get any better than that.
