As this year comes to an end, I want to take some time and recap what this year has been for me including my life on and off the blog. So, if you are interested, grab a cup of something and get cozy. 2020 was a long one, so I have divided the year into quarters.
Each day this week, I’ll share a new quarter with you. I’ll be leaving tips and resources in each post, so be sure to have a pen and notebook ready. You may want to take notes. Also, if something resonates with you, please leave a comment or email me at brennon (at) justbrennonblog.com.
Quick 2019 Recap
For starters, 2019 was a devastating year for us as a family because we lost our dad pretty suddenly in April. By the end of 2019, I was tired and exhausted of going with the motions. I needed time to “just be” and to also grieve.
In addition, I needed time to figure out how to put my life together again because my dad was such a huge part of our lives.
The Turning Point
So, in mid-December, I had had enough of everything. I walked out on my job of six years. What in the hell? I walked out on my role as a volunteer for an etiquette program. I walked out on everything that I was associated with – with the exception of my family and a few close friends.
During that month, I rarely blogged. I stayed in bed many days crying and trying to figure out, “What next?”
Here’s what happened next?
A few days before Christmas, my great aunt called and requested our presence for Christmas in Buffalo, NY. So, with no hesitation, we went. We had such a lovely time.
Once I came back, I realized I needed to get myself together. I sat long and hard and came up with some goals that I wanted for the new year.
Two of the bigger goals was a new position and of course, increased income, as well as getting all of our teeth done; from cavities, fillings, cleanings and a dental flipper – we all needed something done.
As the new year rang in, I began preparing for what was to come – which brings me to January of this year.
Now that you are pretty much caught up, from here, I’ll share some major happenings from each month as well as some happenings on the blog.
January 2020
In January, I published 24 posts. I was really busy creating New Year content such as a look back on 2019 that offers a free e-book, self care, facing your fears and how to create your own vision board.
In addition to the posts and collaborations on the blog, I gave a brief travel diary post of our New York visit. I absolutely love traveling and experiencing new places.
From all that I went through in December and January, I want to share a side note.
It’s important to know that it’s okay to shut down and regroup. After major life events we definitely need it. What I appreciated most was having people close to me simply check in on me to make sure I was okay. It was also nice to have people drop an occasional meal off.
Sometimes we get so caught up in the go-go-go that sometimes all we want is a meal that we don’t have to plan for or cook. Or maybe someone to take the kids off of our hands for a day. And, if we are lucky, two.
So, if you have someone close to you that’s going through a tough time emotionally or mentally, just check in on them with a call or text. And, if you can drop them off something that will be useful and brighten their day – then do so.

February 2020
By the time February approached, I had two final interviews at two institutions in higher education. Both of those final interviews came with a lot of preparation such as slideshows, research, etc. So, I only published 12 posts during February; about three each week.
Amongst those 12 were a review of the Obliviscar Letter Board, a Valentine’s Day Weekend Travel Guide and a recap of our February trip to the Indianapolis Boat Sport and Motor Show. We went with the mission of finding our ideal camper. Here it is the end of the year and I am still working on manifesting that camper.
But, the truth is I haven’t been focused on it. The stress surrounding COVID is enough for anyone to deal with – let alone trying to manifest a camper.
Truth be told, my focus was and is on manifesting continued health and overall well-being for myself and children, maintaining our income during this difficult time and releasing what no longer serves me.
If you are interested in manifesting your ideal life, I recommend reading the books below.
I’ve written about each of them many times here on the blog over the years.
I’ve also shared these 4 Success Books to End the Year With on News Break.
Money and The Law of Attraction with Esther and Jerry Hicks
Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy

March 2020
When March stepped in, I was so excited because I had accepted one of the positions from the interviews the previous month. When they offered me the position, I knew it was the right one for me. It was everything that I had scripted about. You can read about it in this post, What I’m Doing Now.
And then – craziness broke out. COVID-19.
The COVID shutdown was announced the night before I was supposed to start my first day of work. So, I ended up starting my new position remotely. Not only that, but my mom fell and broke her leg and was staying with us until she recovered.
In between the madness of COVID, starting a new position remotely, my mom staying with us unable to walk much, and my boys having to learn how to do school remotely, I was still able to crank out 13 posts.
It was this month that I started sharing posts on working from home. I also started my new collaboration with Femme Luxe and a re-collaboration with Rockets of Awesome. I love clothes! Prior to having children, I spent several years in the fashion and beauty industry and loved every bit of it!
Anywho, both companies are online fashion companies. Femme Luxe is for women and is based in the UK, while Rockets of Awesome is for children and based here in the USA.
Final Thoughts
The first quarter of the year started off rather normal until March came through with it’s craziness. However, even in its pure craziness, I learned so much. I gave of myself in many new ways, learned to be patient and learned to have faith in divine timing.
How did your first quarter go for you?
