How I Create My Vision Board Every Year

How I Create My Vision Board

The second Saturday in January is National Vision Board Day. National Vision Board Day encourages us to set our goals in a visual way. This is such a great manifestation tool, especially for those who are creative.

In my most recent post, Tips for Following Through With Your Goals, I talked a little bit about vision boards, but in this post, I’m going to tell you a lot of what I know about them and how I create my own every year.

How I Create My Vision Board

Learning Vision Board Creation

For starters, I have been creating vision boards since I was 16. My dad introduced the idea to us while I was in high school. And, later when he discovered the Secret, he shared what he knew about that, too. Quite naturally, I absorbed everything he shared about how to achieve your goals and went to work creating my life based on all of the information I had at those times.

While I had amazing success in my late teens and early 20’s, life changed once I became a mother. Aside from learning how to be a great mother, I didn’t really have any other goals.

Losing Myself

So, after I had my second son I came to the quick realization that it was time to refocus and create a better life plan. I began reading books such as The Success Principles, Think and Grow Rich, and The Secret to gain a different perspective on how to achieve a more desirable life

Finding Myself

After several life changes during that season of life and reading aggressively, I walked into 2015 with the determination to completely change our lives intentionally; which took me back to creating my vision board to begin manifesting our best lives possible.

Some of the accomplishments since 2015 that have manifested from vision board creation includes us traveling to 19 of the 50 states, driving the vehicle I had glued to my 2015 vision board, obtaining my passport, living in a three bedroom house I envisioned, adjunct teaching, creating and maintaining this blog, going to Disney, remaining happy, healthy and safe, and being intentional in my position at work by showing up on time and giving my best in all situations, amongst other things.

With all of this being said, I am going to walk you through how I have been intentionally creating my vision boards each year since 2015.

For starters, I begin with the end in mind.

Meaning, I say, “Okay, at the end of the year, what would I have liked to accomplish?”.

And, then I work backwards in creating goals and visions that will align with the end result. I know it may sound a little crazy to some, but it actually works out.

Read more about how to Begin with the End in Mind.

For example, if I want to earn $75,000 for the year. I put that on my vision board and then calculate how much I would need to earn daily to reach my goal. Another example is my reading list for the year. If my goal is to read 10 books, then I will include a list of 10 books that I want to read on my vision board.

By doing this, I can decide how I want to tackle the goal. For example, every month throughout the year, I can simply read one book. And, if I run over a bit, I’m still good to go.

How I Create My Vision Board

Aside from having my goals posted on my vision board, I include inspirational quotes that speak to me on a deeper level, along with photos that I adore and speak to the vision that I have envisioned for myself.

A Working Vision Board?

Another thing that I love about creating my vision boards is that I create them to work on; a working vision board. I love being able to cross off goals, add action steps, new photos, and memorabilia throughout the year.

Doing this keeps me inspired and lets me know that I am intentionally working my plan.

Final Thoughts

Aside from having goals, action steps, photos, and other inspiration on your vision board, it’s important to fully believe that you can live the life you envision. You also have to feel great about it now. You can’t wait to feel great.

You have to feel great in the present moment despite what your current lifestyle may look like.
