Somehow I neglected to share how much time I had been spending in the Community Herb Garden this past summer. So before Lady Fall officially makes her entrance and pumpkins take over the blog, let’s talk all about the Herb Garden.
The Community Herb Garden
In June, I was introduced to the Community Herb Garden while on a staff retreat for work. I was simply amazed. I had no idea that the garden was available and open to the community.
During our visit, we browsed through the Herb Garden, but noticed that not much had grown yet aside from a variety of flowers. They were beautiful and I thought that it was a beautiful place for a date or a picnic. But once I left that day, I didn’t think anymore about the Herb Garden.
Making Floral Sage Bundles
That was until last month, when I decided that I wanted to make my own Floral Sage Bundles because I was tired of spending so much money on sage. Every month you can find me shelling out tons of dollars in somebody’s metaphysical shop buying sage, pink candles, rose quartz stones, Palo Santo incense, oracle cards, etc. to make sure our home and energy is protected and our vibrations are right.
Nevertheless, I wanted to make my own sage bundles but had nowhere to get fresh sage and flowers that I needed. After racking my brain for about a week, it finally dawned on me that I could revisit the Herb Garden. So, that’s exactly what I did.
Identifying Safe Herbs and Flowers
On my next visit back, I didn’t go to pick or cut anything. My brother and I went to see what had grown and to use a plant identification app to make sure we were picking and cutting safe herbs and flowers.
My brother is all about holistic health, so he was super excited to download the app and scan everything growing. After we identified everything, I was excited to learn that they had everything I needed to make my floral sage bundles.
Help from a Master Gardener
On the following trip back, I did in fact do a lot of picking and cutting. But, because I was new to the idea, a Master Gardener who was on site helped to teach me how to do my cuttings. I learned how to select stem segments, make angled cuts, and how to dry flowers and herbs. Now my own dried flowers and herbs can be found in my room in my sacred space.
Final Thoughts
If you are the kind of person who is interested in about learning about herbs and flowers or want to make your own floral sage bundles, I would recommend visiting a Community Herb Garden. It’s simply a beautiful place to spend some quiet time alone or cut and pick the herbs and flowers that you need.
Don’t forget that the garden is maintained by volunteers, so it’s always great to volunteer your time there if you plan to use the garden a lot.
