As I am gearing up for another April travel adventure – this time solo, I wanted to sit back and quickly reflect upon past April months (since I have been blogging on this domain) and explain why I am grateful for our travel moments, as well as out non-travel moments.
I am grateful for the opportunities we have to travel because it gives us quality time together and exposure to what lies outside of our own city limits. And, since, both of my boys have been born and raised here, I want them to experience life outside of here, even if we don’t move outside of the state any time soon.
I also want them to appreciate the opportunities that they are afforded because it is not every day that children are able to travel so often. Finally, I want them to understand that life can change in a blink of an eye (literally), so it’s important to be humble and appreciate this life that we are blessed with.
So, without further adieu…
April 2017
Last year in April, we were on a mission to travel to as many states as possible. By the time April ended, we had journeyed to 13 states affordably.
In April alone, I drove a whopping 2,200 miles round trip to tackle both, Atlanta, Georgia’s World of Coco-Cola, Dinosaur World in Plant City, Florida, and Cypress Beach in Tampa, Florida…all the way from here in Illinois. Whew!
Don’t forget to read all about our Tips for Visiting the World of Coca-Cola and all of the fun things we picked up from Dollar Tree to take to Cypress Beach.
April 2016
April 2016 was less about travel and more about adventure. During the month of April, we learned how to camp and spent most of the year gathering cool outdoor gadgets to camp and fish with.
We also did a lot of cabin camping at KOA campgrounds, as well as Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Resort in Cave City, Kentucky.
April 2015
In April of 2015, I was just not up for the whole travel thing. I was tired and my money was funny, so we opted for our first spring break staycation.
I had so much fun planning different things in the area to do such as star gazing at the planetarium and having a pizza picnic at the park – which were all “first-time things” for us!
{Oh, my gosh! My son and his orange shirt. LOL}
April 2014
In April of 2014, we took a week-long trip down to Orlando, Florida, spent a day at Legoland in Winterhaven, frolicked up and down Daytona Beach, ate donuts for lunch at Krispy Kreme, and even took a tour at Angell and Phelps Chocolate Factory.
We had a jammed packed week and enjoyed every bit of it, thanks to amazing deals on Groupon; such as the discounted Legoland tickets!
In Summary
April is usually an eventful month for us because the winter weather is finally ending and we are excited to get outside and enjoy the fresh air!
